Why Persona’s Matter
User Personas are the key on where to start…
Creating user personas is something that will be helpful for any UX journey. Understanding the elements to creating a user persona will be key in knowing what to look for in user research and what type of research is needed. Having user personas will help eliminate biased opinions with business partners or with anyone involved in the project. I have learned that if you build a user experience focused on user needs versus on the wants and needs of those involved in the project, there will be better outcomes for customers. Personas can help deep dive into what those user needs are and reveal truths about what customers really want.
I have used persona’s on projects before at the company I work at and saw how they helped a focus group of many different roles (developers, business owners, content writers, designers, etc.) all come together to find a common goal. Without the persona’s, I think the wants and needs would have clashed and caused tension within the focus group. Persona’s helped give the group direction on where to start and what to focus on.
